Back in autumn 2015, a simple conversation at a Talkabout session planted the seed: “The traditional service just doesn’t work for younger people.” The response wasn’t just sympathetic—it was catalytic.
By February 2016, that whisper became Connect— a relaxed, café-style space for exploring faith in a way that felt open, real, welcoming and more relational. Originally held fortnightly before the main Sunday service, it invited people to explore faith through
conversation, creativity, and choice. Some folks then went on into the traditional service afterwards, others found Connect itself to be enough.
But Connect didn’t stay still. It listened and adapted and continues to evolve.
Today, Connect has become woven into the very rhythm of Sunday mornings, evolving in pace and purpose. It now meets monthly offering multiple streams of engagement and multimedia input:
- Café-style discussion for open intergenera5onal conversa5on
- Bible discussion, where everyone brings their voice to the table
- Creative arts to explore the theme with colour and imagination
- Traditional preaching for those who like a more traditional approach
Each group, then “connects together”—sharing insights, questions, and inspiration in community. This isn’t a return to tradition—it’s a move towards transformation.
