A Testament to Faith, Generosity and Community Spirit
SALU’s involvement with Christian Aid began in the 1980s, another of Maggie Lunan’s initiatives. Since then, supporting Christian Aid isn’t just something we do – it’s something we live.
Over the last twelve years, our church has come together with imagination and compassion to give over £85,000 towards this life-changing global work.
A Whole-Church Effort
Every fundraising effort is met with heartfelt generosity from across the congregation. Whether giving during Christian Aid Week or responding to crises across the world, these offerings are more than donations – they are expressions of solidarity and hope.
Fundraising with Heart and Humour
Christian Aid Week sees our small but dynamic committee spring into action, crafting events that bring joy and purpose. From duck races to concerts, from sponsored challenges to one-off themed evenings, the creativity is matched only by the enthusiasm. And with door-to-door collections still alive and well, it’s clear that every step taken matters.
Local Support that Grows
We’re not alone in this journey. Neighbours and nearby community spaces – including open days on a local estate – have generously welcomed us, sharing proceeds from their events to add to the impact. It’s a beautiful reminder that giving is contagious.
The Bigger Picture
Behind the numbers lies something deeper: a pattern of kindness, collaboration and faithful action. SALU’s support for Christian Aid reflects a church that is moved with compassion and invites others to walk alongside.
