🌟 Monthly Assemblies Bringing Light and Belonging to Lhanbryde Primary School
Each month, Lhanbryde Primary School comes alive with music, laughter and stories that speak to the heart, thanks to our special assemblies that gently weave together spiritual reflection and inclusive celebration. Hosted just ahead of Active Church weekends, these gatherings were originally envisioned to raise awareness of the upcoming Active Church, but they have grown into something much more lasting and meaningful.
🎵 A Welcoming Rhythm
Led with energy and kindness, the assemblies use Fischy Music, a vibrant Christian resource full of action songs and lyrical joy, which beautifully reinforces the Religious and Moral Education curriculum. It’s not just the children who join in with enthusiasm; staff have been clear that they’d love these sessions to continue.
🤗 Inclusion at the Heart
Children from the support unit are active participants, and thoughtful adjustments help everyone feel at ease. From sensory-friendly toys like ‘transformers to fiddle with’ (a perfect nod to how Bible stories show Jesus transforming lives), this work is part of a portfolio of SALU’s involvement in the school. From Library support to Knitting Club and Code Club, all are part of an ongoing commitment to the community.

The impact goes beyond the walls of the assembly hall. One parent shared that her daughter has become kinder to her brother and more considerate to her classmates since attending. It’s a quiet testament to the power of shared stories, music and meaningful connection.

It takes a team to make it happen – planning, delivery, AV support and in-person support from the minister. Above all, it’s fun. ‘Well, I think it is!’ says our team leader with a grin, echoing the joy and passion that pulses through every session.
